We’re delighted to announce that The Monkton Players will be back on stage this October with another worldwide exclusive – Fete Fiasco, the brand-new farce written and directed by our very own Tim Hiscock.
Following our previous original productions, Tim has once again created a fast-moving comedy packed with eccentric characters, misunderstandings and the sort of escalating chaos that can only happen at a village fete!
Welcome to Little Buckton…
When the well-meaning but increasingly anxious vicar of Little Buckton sets out to impress a visiting Bishop, he thinks he has found the perfect solution: a celebrity guest to open the village fete.
Unfortunately, things do not go quite according to plan.
A mix-up involving some dangerously potent homemade “elderflower cordial” leaves the glamorous actress rather less composed than expected – and from that moment onwards, the day begins to spiral spectacularly out of control.
As torrential rain forces the fete indoors, rival committee members compete for attention, a hard-of-hearing sound engineer makes matters considerably worse, and a star-struck young influencer manages to capture rather more than she bargained for.
With an increasingly desperate attempt to keep the truth hidden beginning to unravel, misunderstandings multiply, reputations are put on the line and even a very unconvincing disguise becomes part of the plan.
And through it all, the ever-observant Edna may ultimately get to decide how the story ends… particularly when it becomes apparent that the entire fiasco might already have been recorded for the world to see.
Fete Fiasco is a riotous comedy about ambition, appearances and the dangers of being caught on camera when absolutely everything goes wrong.
