
Play Readings Begin for October Production – Starting with Coronation Fever
The Monkton Players are starting informal play readings to help decide on our October production – and you’re invited to join us! Our first reading will take place on Tuesday 2nd July at 7:30pm, when we’ll explore Coronation Fever by Vince Jones – a lively and nostalgic comedy set in a Somerset village during the early 1950s. The play takes place over two evenings in Wintercourse Frequent – a small Somerset village, in June and July 1952. King George has died earlier that year, and the Coronation of Elizabeth II is set for June 1953. Local vicar Jeremy Tongue calls a meeting of the village’s “notable” residents to plan suitable activities for the upcoming coronation weekend.
